Our fellow data nerds over at the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) are consulting on the next edition of the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) that will be used for the 2021 Census.
The ASGS defines the hierarchy of statistical geographic areas that the ABS will use for publishing social, demographic and economic statistics from 2021 onwards. (If you’ve ever worked with statistical data that was described by ‘Mesh blocks’, ‘SA1’, ‘SA2’ and so on, that was the ASGS.)
We thought some of our data.wa.gov.au users might be interested in sharing their feedback with the ABS, so we’re passing along the invitation. The ABS are keen to get feedback on a number of points, including:
- Ensuring the ASGS continues to meet the needs of data users into the 2020s
- Feedback on specific components of the ASGS – including how urban centres and localities are described
- Any overall feedback around how the ASGS is designed and your experience in working with it
Head over to the ABS’s consultation portal to access the survey, which closes 15th July 2019.
